Building on the highly acclaimed and revered MPC series of sampling drum machines, the Akai MPC2000XL combines sampler, drum machine and first rate MIDI sequencer at an unbelievable price. The Akai MPC2000XL pumps out 16 bit stereo CD quality samples of personally selected drum sounds and gives you the freedom to control them, and your external MIDI equipment, via the powerful internal sequencer.

Akai MPC2000XL showcases Hot Features you'd expect from an Akai MPC

Hot new features of the MPC2000XL include a looping and enveloping system, which utilises a 16-bit looping sampler section and is ideal for percussion samples and tempo matching between loops. Further ground breaking additions are the high quality time stretching feature and sound slicing feature.

With an enormous note sequence capacity now reaching 300,000, and up to 256 held samples, the need for floppy disk swapping is much reduced, enhancing the usability at live performances. The Akai MPC2000XL comes equipped with 2 MB of onboard RAM, expandable to 32 MB with standard SIMMs, and now sports a flash ROM operating system which you can upgrade easily.

The Akai MPC2000XL showcases new functions such as an "open window" key which greatly aids editing, and powerful file and folder management. Options including a track mute key, device naming, simultaneous playback of a second sequence, and a note repeat button boost the range of sounds extensively.

The Akai MPC2000XL can read the MPC3000, S1000 and S300 sound libraries and MPC3000 sequences, and it can also read WAV files from PC-formatted disks. The MPC2000 XL is also compatible with the MPC2000 expansion boards.

The Akai MPC2000XL weighs significantly less than its predecessors and is more compact. The pads are pressure sensitive and excellent for loose programming, and four individual bank buttons provide ease of navigation through sample banks. A "next sequence" key comes in useful for preparing the next sequence while not interrupting the current one. The graphic display comprises a tilting 3-position LCD that promises to improve ease of use in live performances.

The Akai MPC2000XL offers a host of expansion options, including memory expansion up to 32 MB.
